The Grain and Gristle is a pub started by three friends wanting to bring local beer and food together. The space is centered by a live-edged maple bar built by Brenden Alvistur, around which one can quaff craft beers amongst a small selection of excellent wine and draft mineral water made from Portland’s Bull Run watershed. The beer list at the pub features only eight drafts and a handful of special bottled brews, showcasing the best breweries from the region. This limited selection is what the Grain and Gristle is all about – simplicity. And much like the ever-changing beer list, the pub’s food menus are short but thoughtful with special attention being given to what will go great with the kegs being poured. They also offer a distinct selection of local spirits that will evolve with the direction of Northwest craft distilling.
